Summary

Description

Home of Emerson. Engraving of the home of Emerson, behind a fence and trees, with two figures in the road. The engraved initials C. P. are preserved. Their expansion and the individual roles of artist and engraver have not been independently established here.

From Concord Books, Harper's New Monthly Magazine, vol. LI (51), no. CCCI (301), June 1875, printed p.26. The issue number and date are printed on the actual opening page of this scanned volume. Its printed title gives volumeLI; the repository headline Volume29 is inconsistent with both that title and its volume51 metadata and is not used here.

The house, bare and evergreen trees, fence, figures, hatching and caption match the scrapbook. Compared directly with H. P. Blavatsky's Scrapbooks, volume3, page201, item3. This witness does not establish the first-ever appearance or identify the physical copy used for the scrapbook. The album text and editorial notes are not changed.
