Guard-House Described in "Toilers of the Sea". A stone guard-house on a coastal cliff, with two figures at the right and the sea behind. The building, figures, cliff, clouds, water and hatching match the scrapbook. The printed caption is absent from the album cutting. The artist and engraver have not been securely identified here.

From The Channel Islands, Harper's New Monthly Magazine, vol. LI (51), no. CCCI (301), June1875, printed p.6. The actual issue opening explicitly prints June1875 and no.301; the volume title prints LI. The repository headline Volume29 is inconsistent with the printed volume and is not used here.

Compared directly with H. P. Blavatsky's Scrapbooks, volume3, page205, item3. This witness does not establish the first-ever appearance or identify the physical copy used for the scrapbook.

The engraving and original caption are retained. No added canvas is included. Natural paper colour, marks and show-through are preserved. No enlargement, colour or tonal correction, sharpening, retouching or reconstruction was applied. PNG compression is lossless; the source itself is JPEG.
