Description
Old Manse. A house seen through trees, with children on the lawn, shrubs and a fence. The house, tree trunks and branches, children, arched outline, hatching and printed caption match the scrapbook. The album handwriting associating the view with Hawthorne is a separate annotation. The accompanying article is credited to Miss H. E. Hudson; that is not an established picture credit. The artist and engraver of this illustration are not securely identified here.
