Summary

Description

Outside an Arab Cafe in Cairo. People sit and stand outside a café in Cairo, beside a decorated doorway. The figures, child carried on a shoulder, cups, pipes, chairs, water jars, brickwork, wall drawings of animals and a train, foreground animal and hatching match the scrapbook. The full picture, frame, small printed marks and caption The Prince’s Visit to India: Outside an Arab Cafe in Cairo. are retained. No named artist or engraver is assigned from unidentified initials. The wall drawings remain part of this picture, not separate new album matches.

From The Illustrated London News, vol. LXVII (67), no. 1893, 20 November 1875, printed p. 501. The complete source-page header prints the date and folio. The issue masthead on the previously reviewed p. 497 prints the number, volume and date; the same retained immutable witness is identified in the dossier. The first publication in all editions and the physical copy used for the scrapbook cutting are not established.

Compared directly with H. P. Blavatsky’s Scrapbooks, volume 5, page 23, item 2. Album images, captions, articles, handwriting, notes, metadata, footnotes and prior sources remain unchanged.
