Summary

Description

The Maharana of Oudeypore. Bust portrait of the Maharana of Oudeypore. The high asymmetric turban with central floral ornament and hanging stones, beard, round collar medallion, large chest ornament with lower oval pendant, decorated garment borders and background hatching match the scrapbook. The entire headgear, bust, outer hatching, small printed marks and caption The Maharana of Oudeypore. are retained. A named artist, engraver or photographic source for this exact impression is not established here.

From The Illustrated London News, vol. LXVII (67), no. 1895, Saturday, 4 December 1875, printed p. 568. The complete source-page header prints the date and folio. The separately retained issue front, printed p. 545, directly prints the number, volume and date. The portraits occur side by side on p. 568 with separate captions; the coastal scene below is outside this crop and is not asserted to be another scrapbook match. The first publication in all editions and the physical copy used for the scrapbook cutting are not established.

Compared directly with H. P. Blavatsky’s Scrapbooks, volume 5, page 81, item 2. Album images, captions, author parameters, articles, handwriting, notes, metadata, footnotes and prior sources remain unchanged.

File and processing

PNG, 1424 × 1664 pixels, RGB; natural paper colour retained. Complete input: 3280 × 4709 pixels, 2390431 bytes, SHA-256 967dff3b52d1e0d23cc0f118cff81fa8b96d327cd34ef0652791154fbc509560.

Crop (200, 430)–(1660, 2130) in the unchanged source image. No fine resampling: the measured caption is already within alignment tolerance. Final trim (18, 18)–(1442, 1682); right and bottom bounds are exclusive. No added canvas is retained. The full portrait, outer hatching, printed caption, signatures and meaningful marks remain. Original paper colour, show-through, minor colour moiré, printed irregularities and scan artefacts are retained. No enlargement, colour or tonal correction, sharpening, retouching, watermark removal or reconstruction was applied. PNG compression is lossless; the complete original access file remains unchanged.
