Summary

Description

A Bit of Amagansett. A house and outbuildings beside water, with a windmill, footbridge, fences, trees and a standing figure. The chimney, roof, windmill, bridge rails, figure and water reflections match the scrapbook cutting.

From Around the Peconics, Harper's New Monthly Magazine, volume LVII, no. 341, October 1878, printed p. 728 (New York: Harper & Brothers). The same bound volume's title page prints June to November 1878; its October issue opening prints No. CCCXLI. The generic repository metadata date 1913 is not the publication date of this physical volume.

Compared directly with H. P. Blavatsky's Scrapbooks, volume 7, page 183, item 1. Individual artist and engraver roles have not been securely established here; an article author's credit is not transferred to the illustration. Small engraved marks and signatures where present are retained. This is a matching published witness, not proof of the first appearance or the physical copy used for the scrapbook cutting.

Final trim (30, 35)–(2370, 1665); right and bottom bounds are exclusive. Complete composition, faint surrounding hatching, frame where present, printed caption and meaningful marks are retained. No added canvas is included. No enlargement, colour or tonal correction, sharpening, retouching or reconstruction was applied. PNG compression is lossless; the complete input remains unchanged.
