Summary
Description
Follow my Lead, matching H. P. Blavatsky's Scrapbooks, volume 7, page 220, item 1. Children jumping from the broken jetty, the two girls below, the bucket and spade, distant towers and sailboat, irregular stepped outline and engraved strokes match. The complete engraved composition and original printed caption are retained. The rectangular crop also preserves the original printed article text occupying the stepped artwork's recess; this text has not been erased or replaced with artificial paper. The exact engraved design is confirmed; the physical copy used for the album cutting and the artist and engraver are not independently established here.
From Harper's New Monthly Magazine, vol. LVII, no. 341, October 1878, p. 696 (New York: Harper & Brothers). The issue opening prints No. CCCXLI, October 1878 and Vol. LVII; the bound title page prints June to November 1878. The original leaf mapping identifies camera exposure 712 as page 696. The date of this impression does not establish when the scrapbook leaf was assembled.
