Summary

Description

An Interior at Three Mile Harbor. A seated woman in a wooden room, facing a small stove and mantel, with a tall clock, window, chair, ceiling beams and floorboards. These features, the woman's pose and clothes, the stove ornaments and the hatching match the scrapbook cutting. The complete composition, faint peripheral strokes and printed caption are retained. The scrapbook's separate pale patches and handwritten marks are not part of this source image.

From Around the Peconics, Harper's New Monthly Magazine, volume LVII, no. 341, October 1878, p. 710 (New York: Harper & Brothers). This is the article's opening page. Page 710 is established by the repository's leaf/page sequence; the illustrated opening does not visibly print that folio. The bound volume's title page prints June to November 1878 and the October issue opening prints No. CCCXLI. The repository's generic metadata date 1913 is not this physical volume's publication date.

Compared directly with H. P. Blavatsky's Scrapbooks, volume 7, page 286, item 1. Individual artist and engraver roles have not been established here; article authorship is not transferred to the illustration. This is a matching published witness, not proof of the very first appearance or the physical source copy used for the scrapbook cutting.

Right and bottom bounds are exclusive. The complete illustration and its caption are retained; adjacent article prose is outside the crop. No added canvas, enlargement, colour or tonal correction, sharpening, retouching or reconstruction was applied. PNG compression is lossless; the complete input remains unchanged.
