Source

Живописная Россия: Отечество наше в его земельном, историческом, племенном, экономическом и бытовом значении, under the general editorship of P. P. Semenov, volume 2, part 1: Северо-западные окраины России. Великое княжество Финляндское, St Petersburg and Moscow: M. O. Wolf, 1882. Unnumbered illustrated half-title, reader image 5. The photographed ordinary title, reader image 6, establishes part 1 and year 1882; the catalogue/reader heading calls the bound object part 2, a discrepancy not silently transferred to this leaf.

Russian National Library (Российская национальная библиотека), Vivaldi digital library, object bv000020430.

The same matrix also appears in an earlier examined book witness: volume 1, part 1, Северная Россия, 1881, RNL object bv000020387, unnumbered half-title, reader image 4; its ordinary title is reader image 5. These witnesses establish reuse of the design in 1881 and 1882, not its first-ever printing, the physical carrier of the album cutting, or the date of album assembly.

Thank you to the Russian National Library for providing the original-resolution scan and public reader, and to the National Electronic Library for its catalogue.

Rights

Historical printed illustration published in 1882; the underlying published work is public domain in the United States by age. The current specific RNL/Vivaldi record, checked 4 November 2026, exposes 100% viewing, copying and printing, and download of the whole document. These access permissions are recorded as such, not presented as a Creative Commons licence or an explicit worldwide reuse grant. No separate CC licence or Public Domain Mark for the digitization is asserted. The linked Vivaldi rules distinguish informational resources from the service/software; the software copyright footer is not attributed to the 1882 engraving. Source credit and all supplied image marks are retained.

File and processing

Lossless RGB PNG, 2730 × 4000 pixels (10920000 pixels, within the wiki's PNG thumbnail limit). The full original JPEG is available unchanged at 4123 × 5843 pixels. This is a colour scan of naturally pale cream/greenish paper with dark bluish-black printing, not a hand-coloured engraving.

Exact native-size crop (140, 100)–(3990, 5740), right/bottom exclusive, produces 3850 × 5640 pixels; all four frame edges, lower signatures, campfire, kettle and printed design remain with a small paper margin. Two long upper printed rules are already horizontal (0.0°); the lower rule has a small local variation of about 0.096°, not a uniform page tilt. No rotation or perspective distortion was applied. One proportional LANCZOS reduction makes this display rendition; the native crop and final decoded pixels were independently reproduced from the original. The service parameter 600 is not treated as proof of optical scan resolution.

No enlargement, tonal adjustment, colourization, sharpening, retouching or reconstruction. Original source SHA-256 183cd45752b859f97e9f59fda3ed2c52c38590f841fd180687a6ae07a17c1b02. Changes: cropping and proportional reduction for display; full original scan retained separately.
