Summary

Description

Tale of King Omar bin al-Nu'uman and his Sons, illustration by Albert Letchford, matching H. P. Blavatsky's Scrapbooks, volume 13, page 45, item 1. The raised sword, two seated women, camel caravan, foreground vessel, rocks and artist's signature correspond to the album composition.

Source

The Book of the Thousand Nights and a Night, translated by Richard F. Burton, edited by Leonard C. Smithers, illustrated by Albert Letchford. London: H. S. Nichols Ltd., 1897, vol. II, plate 12. The physical title page reads MDCCCXCVII and Leonard C. Smithers. The separate caption leaf gives No. 12 and the tale title; that caption is not printed beneath the illustration itself. The plate occurs near printed p. 30, but does not bear that folio.

This is a later book witness dated 1897, not proof of the date of the album cutting or of an addition by Blavatsky. The precise physical carrier of the cutting remains unestablished. The album's existing circa-1901 note is preserved; this Sources addition records the independently verified 1897 witness without changing album metadata.
