Summary

Description

Highland Light, Cape Cod. The lighthouse, keeper’s house and smaller buildings, people, boat and equipment match the scrapbook cutting. The upper album border obscures part of its sky, and the original printed caption was cut away. The complete book composition and caption are retained here. The individual artist and engraver are not securely identified here. Samuel Adams Drake is the book’s author, not an established picture credit.

From Samuel Adams Drake, Nooks and Corners of the New England Coast (New York: Harper & Brothers, [c1875]), printed p. 306. The scanned copy has an undated title-page imprint and is catalogued [c1875]; its copyright verso explicitly reads 1875. The impression date is not separately printed. This matching book reproduction does not establish the first appearance or the physical copy from which the scrapbook cutting was taken.

Compared directly with H. P. Blavatsky’s Scrapbooks, volume 3, page 251, item 4.
