H. P. Blavatsky

Prahlâda. The son of Hiranyakashipu, the King of the Asuras. As Prahlâda was devoted to Vishnu, of whom his father was the greatest enemy, he became subjected in consequence to a variety of tortures and punishments. In order to save his devotee from these, Vishnu assumed the form of Nri‐Sinha (man‐lion, his fourth avatar) and killed the father.
