Description

Not So Bad for an “Old Chappie.”, Punch, or The London Charivari, volume 83, 7 October 1882, printed page 157. The two men in top hats correspond exactly to HPB-SB-14-86, image item 4: profiles and moustaches, cigarette gesture, hands and canes, STALLS sign, clothing, cross-hatched wall and floor, printed title and dialogue. This crop retains the complete drawing, title and both replies. No unsupported expansion of the retained artist's signature is supplied. This is a matching historical printed witness; the exact physical carrier of the album clipping is not established. The album itself is unchanged.

Lossless RGB PNG, 1665 × 2190 pixels. Native-pixel crop (125,250)–(1790,2440), right and bottom exclusive, from the original 3182 × 4440 JPEG. Source and final crop personally checked 5 November 2026. Printed title and dialogue are already level; no rotation or resampling needed. Full figures, signature, title, both replies and framing rules retained. Original natural paper and show-through retained. No enlargement, sharpening, contrast or colour adjustment, retouching, colourization or reconstruction. No ICC profile in original; none invented. Independent native crop pixel replay passed.
