pronounced it a “bad dream,” &c. The child continued to droop. Everything was done that thought could suggest, but to no purpose, for she too died in a short time. This case has puzzled me exceedingly. It was evidently the work of spirits seemingly actuated by a desire for revenge, though I cannot understand why, as Mr. A. is extremely worthy, liberal minded, benevolent and greatly admired by his intimate friends though understood by but few of them.

Among your many readers there are doubtless those who will understand this case. Should anyone deem it worth the while, I would be glad to see the explanation.
