(20 August 1779 − 7 August 1848)

Swedish chemist (1779-1848), professor in Stockholm and secretary of its Academy of Sciences. His research concerned physiological chemistry, atomic theory, chemical composition and electrochemistry; he also developed chemical nomenclature and the radical theory. (BCW 3:497).
