Fig. 26—Old Age. Historical engraving from the illustrated article headed Eyes: Their Differences, Etc. in The Phrenological Journal and Life Illustrated, July 1874, printed p. 23. The artist and engraver have not been established. The caption is retained as a historical printed label.

The drawing, engraving lines, figure number and caption match H. P. Blavatsky's Scrapbooks, volume 3, page 21, item 3. This witness does not identify the particular physical copy used for the scrapbook or establish the first-ever appearance of the drawing.

The printed headers establish July 1874. The catalogue's generic series date of 1870 is not used as the date of this illustration. The page-to-leaf mapping was checked against the printed page and the archive's public scandata. A volume/issue number, more specific physical-copy shelfmark, artist and engraver are not asserted here.

The natural paper colour, marks and show-through are retained. Thank you to the Wellcome Library and Internet Archive for preserving this issue and making these scans freely available.

PNG, 639 × 959 pixels, RGB. The source is the archive's processed JPEG 2000 page, not an original camera file or a JPEG BookReader rendering. Retained JP2: 1204492 bytes, SHA-256 02175a75e5d966e0d4c9edcfed799dc0709807127a72792e3039d18ca5c3e4de.

The complete figure and its printed caption were cropped from source coordinates (1380, 3040)–(2025, 4005), then aligned 0.19 degrees counter-clockwise with one bicubic resampling. The expanded crop (649 × 969 pixels) was trimmed to (5, 5)–(644, 964). Right and bottom bounds are exclusive. A source-area mask confirms that all output pixels lie within the source image; no added canvas is included. Adjacent prose is excluded and remains accessible on the complete page.

No enlargement, colour or tonal correction, sharpening, retouching or reconstruction was applied.
