As was naturally to be expected, a great diversity of views is expressed by the several disputants; some warmly welcoming the idea; some expressing incredulity; some sounding the alarm of danger, and some, whose pretensions to knowledge warranted us in expecting better things of them, descending to cheap wit and buffoonery.
