... | {{Style S-Small capitals|The}} Theosophical Society of New York, America, seems to be earnest and energetic. A deputation consisting of Major Henry S. Olcott, President of the Society, the Countess Heliona. P. Blavatsky corresponding Secretary, Mr. Edward Wimbridge, Miss Rosa Bates, has arrived at Bombay. Their object seems to confer with the Arya Somaj at Lahore about the best means of spreading a correct knowledge of oriental Philosophy among the Western nations. The idea is commendable and we hope every facility will be given to the worthy members of the deputation to get the desired information. It is indeed very flattering to our nation to think that people should travel from America to learn and then to teach the philosophy of the Ancient Hindoos. We do not know whether any member of the deputation knows Sanscrit, as otherwise there will be great difficulty in achieving their object. | ||
