Template:Style P-Signature custom

From Teopedia

This style is to design paragraph in text. To highligt just several symbols use templates for symbol styles.

Signature after an article, a letter or a quotation, in up to four lines, each line set in its own way: the name in small capitals, the office or the note below it in italics, the place and date in plain type — the way such signatures are set in printed books. The older {{Style P-Signature}} and {{Style P-Signature in capitals}} are kept unchanged for the pages that already use them; this one is a separate template, so nothing that exists is affected.

Modifications:

  • text-align: right
  • font-size: 90%
  • every line is a line of its own and carries its own style, switched by a parameter
  • the whole block can be moved away from the right edge towards the centre

To copy:

{{Style P-Signature custom|}}

The shortest form is the same as in the older templates — one line, small capitals:

{{Style P-Signature custom|H. P. Blavatsky}}
H. P. Blavatsky

Parameters

Parameter Values Default What it does
1 text — first line, usually the name
2 text — second line, usually the office or a note. May be left out
3 text — third line, usually the place and the date. May be left out
4 text — fourth line, if one more is needed. May be left out
1 style caps, italic, plain, caps italic caps how the first line is set
2 style the same italic how the second line is set
3 style the same plain how the third line is set
4 style the same plain how the fourth line is set
align right, center, left right which edge the lines are aligned to
shift 0, 1, 2, 4… 1 how far the whole block stands away from the right edge of the text, towards the centre, counted in ems. In printed books the signature is not pressed against the edge: at the end of the preface to the first edition of The Secret Doctrine it stands about 1 em away from it, and that is the default here. 0 puts it flush with the edge, the way {{Style P-Signature}} and {{Style P-Signature in capitals}} do. A plain number is enough; 2em is understood as well

The template must start at the beginning of a line, right under the text it signs.

Examples

Name, office, place and date

{{Style P-Signature custom
 | 1 = H. P. Blavatsky
 | 2 = Corresponding Secretary
 | 3 = London, October, 1888
}}
H. P. Blavatsky
Corresponding Secretary
London, October, 1888

Two names, one under the other

{{Style P-Signature custom
 | 1 = Henry S. Olcott
 | 2 = Helena P. Blavatsky
 | 2 style = caps
}}
Henry S. Olcott
Helena P. Blavatsky

The end of a letter, as it is set in the newspapers of the Scrapbooks

Write the name in ordinary capitals and lower case: caps turns it into small capitals by itself, with the initials left full size, exactly as in the clippings.

{{Style P-Signature custom
 | 1 = Yours, &c.,
 | 1 style = plain
 | 2 = Mohini M. Chatterji.
 | 2 style = caps
}}
Yours, &c.,
Mohini M. Chatterji.

Flush with the right edge, as in the older templates

{{Style P-Signature custom
 | 1 = H. P. B.
 | 2 = London, October, 1888
 | 2 style = plain
 | shift = 0
}}
H. P. B.
London, October, 1888

Further towards the centre

{{Style P-Signature custom|H. P. Blavatsky|shift=4}}
H. P. Blavatsky

One line in italics, as in {{Style P-Signature}}

{{Style P-Signature custom|A. B. Writer|1 style=italic}}
A. B. Writer
