The fourth Veda; lit., magic incantation containing aphorisms, incantations and magic formula One of the most ancient and revered Books of the Brahmans (TG).
Editions include the Sanhitâ edited by R. Roth and W. D. Whitney (Berlin, 1855-56) and an edition with Sâyanâchârya's commentary edited by Shankar Pândurang Pandit (Bombay, 1895-98, 4 vols.). English translations listed by Boris de Zirkoff include those of Ralph T. H. Griffith (Benares, 1895-96), Whitney and C. R. Lanman (Cambridge, Mass., 1905), and M. Bloomfield (Oxford, 1897; SBE, Vol. XLII).  (BCW 2:522).
