Simorgh
(Pers.)
The same as the winged Siorgh, a kind of gigantic griffin, half phœnix, half lion, endowed in the Iranian legends with oracular powers. Simorgh was the guardian of the ancient Persian Mysteries. It is expected to reappear at the end of the cycle as a gigantic bird‐lion. Esoterically, it stands as the symbol of the Manvantaric cycle. Its Arabic name is Rahshi. (TG).
