B. de Zirkoff associates the journal with the Ladies’ Theosophical Society established at Calcutta in March 1883, describing its foundation as an outcome of that movement. (B. de Zirkoff, BCW 4:xxix) A Bengali journal of the Tagore family, published in Calcutta, India, in 1877-1926. Heidelberg University Library / FID4SA dates its first issue to April 1877, which conflicts with the account of its foundation as a consequence of the Society’s establishment in 1883. (Heidelberg University / FID4SA: Bharati, 1877-1926)
