Jeanne Du Barry

(French: Jeanne Bécu de Cantigny)

Favourite of Louis XV, who provided her with the residence at Louveciennes. Following the king's death she was banished for a time; during the Revolution she was condemned by the Revolutionary Tribunal and executed in 1793. (BCW 3:503).
