Jacques Gaffarel

French Orientalist and author (1601-1681), librarian to Cardinal Richelieu and student of rabbinical and Kabbalistic writings. His Curiositez inouyes (1629) defended Oriental doctrines concerning astrology and related subjects; Edmund Chilmead translated it as Unheard-of Curiosities (1650).  (BCW 6:433).
