Alexey Fyodorovich von Hahn
Russian major-general and commandant of Kamenets-Podolsk; H. P. Blavatsky’s paternal grandfather. Russian documentary sources identify him as Alexey Fyodorovich Hahn; the German form of his name is Axel Heinrich von Hahn. (А.А.
Note on the name and rank: the previously transmitted patronymic Gustavovich differs from the documentary form Fyodorovich. The rank of major-general follows documentary research; participation in Suvorov’s crossing of the Alps is not asserted here. (А.А. 1, 4-6, 11) (B. de Zirkoff, BCW 1:lxxiii)
