Daniel Dunglas Home
(20 March 1833 − 2 June 1886)
Scottish Spiritualistic medium. Converted to Spiritualism in 1850, giving seances in New York and elsewhere; sent to Europe, 1855, where his seances aroused considerable interest. In 1870-72 had a series of sittings with Sir Wm. Crookes. As a medium, was connected with all known forms of manifestation, and was never detected in any fraud; his phenomena are the best attested in the history of Spiritualism. Works: *Incidents in My Life (1863-72); Light and Shadows of Spiritualism (1877). In spite of some statements to the contrary, H.P.B. did not know Home personally and never met him. (BCW 1:469).
