(1867–1931)
Irish Orientalist, Theosophist, writer and traveller. His father was William J. Johnston, member of Parliament for Belfast, a famous Orangeman and leader of the Temperance Movement (BCW 9:422-426).
His recollections of meeting H. P. Blavatsky in spring 1887 appeared in the New York Theosophical Forum in April–July 1900. B. de Zirkoff dates the Society for Psychical Research meeting mentioned in them to 24 June 1885. (B. de Zirkoff, BCW 8:392,394)
