Allan Kardec

Pen name of Hippolyte-Léon-Denizard Rivail, a French writer whose work helped spread Spiritism. His books include Le Livre des Esprits (1857), Le Livre des Médiums (1861), Le Ciel et l’Enfer (1865), and L’Évangile selon le Spiritisme. (BCW 5:375-376).
