Letters from the Masters of the Wisdom

Compiled by: Curuppumullage Jinarajadasa

The First Series, prepared by C. Jinarajadasa, appeared at Adyar in 1919 with a foreword by A. Besant. The fourth edition of 1948 added letters covering 1870-1900. The Second Series appeared at Adyar in 1925 and Chicago in 1926. (B. de Zirkoff, BCW 4:xxxii)

Pages 3–11 of the fourth edition of the First Series (1948) contain K. H.’s report of the Maha-Chohan’s views, preserved in a copy held by C. W. Leadbeater. The original letter’s date is disputed: H. P. Blavatsky gave 1880, whereas C. Jinarajadasa favoured 1881. (B. de Zirkoff, BCW 7:248-249)

Letter 47 of the First Series reproduces H. P. Blavatsky’s pencilled record of K. H.’s remarks on the Theosophical Society in 1888; the original is preserved in the Adyar Archives. (B. de Zirkoff, BCW 10:134, BCW 10:78-79)
