Bernard de Montfaucon

(16 January 1655 − 21 December 1741)

French scholar and Benedictine monk (1655-1741), editor of writings of the Church Fathers. His illustrated L'Antiquité expliquée contributed to the foundations of archaeology, while Palaeographia graeca (1708) surveyed the history of Greek writing. (BCW 3:516).
