Olaus Magnus

(Latin: Olaus Magnus)

Swedish ecclesiastic and writer (1490-1558), long resident in Rome. His Historia de gentibus septentrionalibus (1555) became an influential account of northern peoples; John Streater’s English translation appeared in London in 1653. (BCW 2:538).
