Samuel Purchas

English compiler of accounts of travel and discovery and rector of St Martin's, Ludgate. His largest collection was the four-volume Hakluytus Posthumus (1625). De Zirkoff notes the unique historical value of some accounts while cautioning that his information is not always accurate. (BCW 3:518).
