Urusov Family

A princely family of Tatar origin. (B. de Zirkoff, BCW 2:352) The family traces its descent to the Nogai prince Urus, a descendant of Edigu Mangit. P. V. Dolgorukov’s Russian Genealogical Book places Urus in the sixth generation from Edigu; the Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopaedic Dictionary also records this descent. (П.В. Долгоруков, Российская родословная книга: князья Урусовы; ЭСБЕ: Урусовы, т. XXXIVa (1902), с. 942-943)
