The appendix directs the reader to volume X, pages 413-414, for a fuller bibliography. (BCW).

De Zirkoff lists E. A. Wallis Budge’s edition and translation of the Theban recension, with vocabulary and plates: three volumes, London, 1898, and an enlarged seven-volume second edition, 1909-1911. (BCW 6:428).

Passages quoted have been checked by the English transl. of the Theban Recension by Sir E. A. Wallis Budge; 2nd rev. and enl. ed. London: Kegan Paul; New York: E. P. Dutton & Co. 1928, 3 vols. in one (BCW 9:408).

Consult Bio-Bibliographical Index of Volume X in the present Series, for comprehensive information concerning the nature of this title and the various editions of the text (BCW 11:568).

Conventional title for ancient Egyptian collections of funerary spells, hymns and invocations, preserved on monuments and papyri. The bibliography distinguishes Heliopolitan, Theban and Saite recensions (BCW 10:413-415).

In E. A. Wallis Budge’s English translation of the Theban recension (1928), p. 318, the description of the barley occurs in chapter CIX, verses 7-8, whereas H. P. Blavatsky cites verses 4-5. B. de Zirkoff suggests that she may have used a different recension. (B. de Zirkoff, BCW 10:55-56)
