The introductory lecture was delivered in December 1885 and the four main lectures at Adyar on 27–31 December 1886. After appearing in The Theosophist, they were published in book form by Tookaram Tatya at Bombay in 1888. The 1934 Theosophical University Press edition incorporates corrections specified by the author in May 1887. (B. de Zirkoff, BCW 5:271) The Bombay book edition of 1888 contains omissions.
