E. Wimbridge
An English artist and an early member of the Theosophical Society. He accompanied H. P. Blavatsky and H. S. Olcott to India in 1879. His work included the design of the cover and engraving of the heading of The Theosophist, as well as a portrait of Blavatsky. He left the Society in 1880.
The cover drawing was ready on 31 July 1879, and engraving began on 2 September. In September 1880 he publicly disputed with H. P. Blavatsky; her annotations to his reply survive in her scrapbook. (B. de Zirkoff, BCW 2:83-84, BCW 2:479-481)
On 27 February 1881 he joined R. Bates and Krishnarao in distributing circulars against the Founders of the Theosophical Society during H. S. Olcott’s lecture in Bombay. (B. de Zirkoff, BCW 3:xxiv)
