Notice with quote from Isis Unveiled +
Obscured letters and a comma at the folded right edge are restored from the complete issue of The Harbinger of Light, No. 147, 1 November 1882. +
Olcott asks the presidents of Hindu branches to answer four allegations made in the May issue of The Arya and says that the circular and replies will be published in the Society's magazine. The exact contemporary reprint in the Extra Supplement to The Theosophist, July 1882, p. 10 supplies the editorial title used here. The Arya masthead fragment mounted above the circular is contextual and is not counted as a second text. +
One editorial unit containing two letters reprinted from the Bombay Gazette. The exact Light issue confirms the title, both signatures and printed page. The page header pasted above the scrapbook collage is from No. 70, May 6, p. 218, but all six textual clippings on this scrapbook page match No. 71. +
Only four badly damaged lines have survived in current version of SB, the rest is restored from original newspaper. This text is a foreword for the article “Quid Divinum” by Emma A. Wood, which is not included in SB. +
Only part of the article was pasted in SB by HPB. +
Only the Lucknow dateline survives on this clipping; the Liberty masthead belongs to the adjacent May 2 clipping. +
Only the beginning of the article is mounted. +
Only the closing paragraph of this recurring column is mounted. The exact issue restores the column title and confirms the signature; the excerpt asks The Theosophist to disavow a recent attack on London Spiritualists and notes that Light had apologised for an attack on Madame Blavatsky. +
Only the closing portion of the signed contribution is mounted. +
Only the closing portion on printed p. 272 is mounted; the exact issue supplies the title and preceding page. +
Only the closing two stanzas are pasted in the scrapbook. The exact issue identifies the cropped title and byline. +
Only the conclusion of this discussion of intoxicating liquors is mounted. It begins at the top of printed p. 53 in mid-sentence and ends with the signature “Philanthropist”; the preceding portion and its printed title are absent from the scrapbook. Printed pp. 51–52 are likewise not represented in the mounted May sequence, but the article is not assigned to either page without evidence. +
Only the excerpt concerning Zöllner and J. P. T. is pasted. The exact issue restores the column title and byline and confirms that the clipping spans printed pages 221-22. +
Only two disconnected printed fragments remain visible beneath the overlapping clippings. +
