Parts of Letter XVIII from Moskovskie Vedomosti, No. 80, 21 March 1880. The letter begins on page 6-156. Read the lower-right, middle and left clippings on page 6-155 before the first fragment here; after “уваже-”, read the upper-right clipping on that page before returning to “при бѣшеныхъ” below. The printed footnotes are on page 6-155. Four ink-obscured or missing characters have been restored from the original newspaper, p. 4, and marked in the text. +
Read the left column only. This fragment continues the left column of page 6-186 and resumes in that page’s right column. It belongs to the instalment begun on page 6-185, printed in Moskovskie Vedomosti, No. 145, 27 May 1880, p. 6. The printed bibliographical note at the bottom refers to the preceding fragment on page 6-186 and is retained here. The neighbouring judicial chronicle is not part of the article. +
Read the left, middle and right columns. The two printed notes are gathered after the text. The text continues the instalment begun on page 6-180, printed as Letter XXII in Moskovskie Vedomosti, No. 137, 19 May 1880, p. 4. +
Read the left, middle and right columns; the horizontal joins within the first and third columns do not interrupt the text. One abraded letter in the right column has been restored from the original newspaper, Moskovskie Vedomosti, No. 137, 19 May 1880, pp. 4–5. +
Red lines frame the Far Sight fragment. Blue curved and vertical marks run beside sections of Notes by the Way, including the right edge of the paragraph on the Reviewer. The writer has not been identified. +

Several Adyar Library stamps overlap the clippings +
Several short strokes cross the right rule of the left clipping; author not established. +
